Grace Fellowship Chilliwack is passionate about training up our men and equipping them for the ministry (Ephesians 4:12). Starting this fall, our men are going to go through Scripture cover-to-cover with a study called “The Iron Man Bible Study.” It is based on Proverbs 27:17 which says: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” because the goal of this study is to sharpen our men’s understanding of the Bible. Past studies have included 9 Marks of a Healthy Church, The Master’s Plan for the Church, Spiritual Disciplines within the Church, and Disciplines of a Godly Man.
The study is from September through November studying one book a week. We will begin with the Book of Genesis then move on to the Book of Exodus then on to Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy until they work their way through to 2 Kings. Men are expected to read each book before the class begins so that we will be ready to discuss it. It will be tough but that is why it is called “The Iron Man Bible Study.” It is designed to challenge men to read the Bible with the goal of eventually taking them all the way through it. If the class is a success in the fall, we will continue in the spring. At that time, we will go through the next 12 books of the Bible starting with 1 Chronicles and finishing with Ezekiel.
We want our men reading the Bible. We want them to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and this will be a wonderful way to do that. Please pray for this time together. Pray that the Lord will “open our eyes, that we may behold wonderful things from His Word” (Psalm 119:18). The study will meet at the home of David Scott.
