The Church & the Parachurch

The Church & the Parachurch

Several years ago, a philosophy professor at Northeastern Illinois University contacted several of his fellow professors to ask them what the meaning of life was. Here was their response: "I do not know the meaning of life." "I do not think there is an answer to the question, what is the meaning of life." "I have never found the meaning of life." "I’m afraid the meaning of life still eludes me." Fortunately, for the Christian, we don’t have to talk like this. We have found the meaning of life: it is to glorify God by making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is to serve Him by serving His church and His people. However, many Christians are choosing to do this a different way. They are choosing to make disciples through the parachurch and it raises the question: Is this okay? Is it okay for Christians to serve Christ apart from His church? Is it okay to disciple people  outside the context of a local body of believers? That is an important question and one we will be answering this Sunday morning at 9:15 on 46024 Riverside Drive. Join us to learn more about "The Church & The Parachurch." – Jeremy Cagle
