John 20

John 20

There are several views that have come down to us about the after-life. If we were to categorize them, the main ones are as follows:

1. Reincarnation
2. Purgatory
3. Annihilationism
4. Alternative Worlds
5. Universalism
6. Soul Sleep

However, the Bible does not teach any of these views. Instead it teaches what is known as a resurrection. It says that some time after death we will receive a new body just like Jesus did after the cross. John 20:19 says, “So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’”

Dead men do not do that. Crucified men do not stand and talk unless they have been resurrected, unless they have been given a new body. This is exactly what happened to our Lord. And that is what we will be studying this this week at Grace Fellowship Church. If you have ever wondered what will happen to you after you die, join us this Sunday morning at 9:30 as we study what happened to Jesus. If you have ever wondered what is the correct view of the after-life, we meet at 46024 Riverside Drive in Chilliwack and we will be looking at that together. Please join us as we study the resurrection of Jesus Christ. – Jeremy Cagle
