1 Corinthians 15
Throughout the centuries, there have been several theories used to disprove the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These include the swoon theory, the theft theory, and the wrong tomb theory. There has also been the magician theory, the hallucination theory, and the twin theory (the idea that Jesus had a twin brother who was crucified). One of the most interesting ones was the alien theory, which says that Jesus was abducted by aliens.
However, it all raises the question: “Why does the resurrection matter?” “Why is it so important that Jesus rose from the grave?” “How would our faith be any different if He was abducted by aliens?” The Apostle Paul answers those questions in First Corinthians 15:14 by saying that “if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.” Then he goes on to say that the resurrection proved the Old Testament true, it proved the New Testament true, it brought us out of our sins, it raises us from the dead, and it explains our present suffering.
If you have ever wondered why the resurrection is so important, please join us this Sunday morning as we talk about that. If you have ever wondered why it matters and why we celebrate a holiday every year to remember it, bring your Bibles to 46024 Riverside Drive in Chilliwack as we open them to First Corinthians 15 to learn what it says. We meet at 9:30. See you there! – Jeremy Cagle
